The effortlessly great Bok Bok did a fantastic ustream yesterday morning, and reminded everyone who was locked of this serious tune by COSMIC REVENGE, a UK Funky/Garage producer outta San Fran. If you haven’t heard this soulful, psychedelic joint yet then you are in for a treat. This was a biiig song for me this summer thanks to it’s irresistible 2 step swing, and it’s pretty fitting right now seeing as it’s 3 in the morning and I’m still awake. Oh, the joys of being helplessly nocturnal…

I’ve also included the beautiful Kastle reworking (Kastle = deep house side project from bassline king B. Rich), who has made me happy by doing naught but extending and enhancing the already flawless song:

Great minimal tech track from Julian Jeweil, who, hailing from Marseille, France, has certainly made a healthy imprint on the crazy hype French electronica and techno scene. You can pick up the release here, and in the meantime, enjoy the deep, dark twist that A. Mochi has given to this rolling chewn.

A. Mochi has reeeeeeally impressed me with this track—pounding, unrelenting rhythms right here:

The whole Black Out EP is fantastic; highly recommended!

Buckmaster is 23-year-old Cody Hare from Charlotte, North Carolina, and I’ve been harassing him for this mixtape for a minute now. Soon to make its public debut on Urban Fabric Radio, Cody he was kind enough to give me permission to post it here, so make sure you snatch it up below! Seriously good vibes with this one.

Definitely a fan of the track listing on this mix, and I suppose obviously so, as more than one have been featured on sugar//mercy//acid//rain. But Buckmaster proves he excels in more than just song selection with his top-notch mixing. One to watch for sure… expect more from him in 2010!

NOTE: The “Secret Tune” in the middle is a remix of one of my favourite tunes this year, which popped up on my favourite mix of the year… remixed by one of my favourite DJ duos. (LOTSA FAVOURITES, okay?!) I’m *not allowed* to say anymore than that… probably already said too much (sorry Cody). Anyhow, no prizes but mad props to anyone who can guess what the original track is!

Andrea & I… we may not be NYC club kids or anything, but I still think we know a thing or two about being fabulous ;)

Alright, this one is for Andrea, my best friend who moved to Costa Rica a few months ago, making me one very sad girl. *Sigh* Anyways, she recently e-mailed me after having just watched the 2003 New York nightlife cult flick Party Monster to proclaim her love for it and “King of the Club Kids,” Macaulay Culkin. He received mixed reviews for his performance, but I thought it was brilliant. So I sent her some tracks from the soundtrack, but thought I’d post one more here, because it’s an absolute classic.

What can I say? Don’t tell me this isn’t utterly fitting. This song is all the rage these days, and I love The Golden Filter. They have a totally awesome tumblr where they post dreamy pictures and on occasion, some lovely music (most recently, their cover of The White Stripes “The Hardest Button To Button”); check it!

Six and a half minutes of techy tribal house, rich with conga drum percussion, chopped up, breathy vocals, and some sort of inventive water noise…? Jungle! From the February release Tsuba Colours 01 (pick it all up via Beatport here), may I present one hell of a song:

The video for the 2nd single from The Cribs album Ignore The Ignorant effortlessly sums up what these English boys are aiming for: to bring back that classic, Strokes-esque alt rock feel to the forefront. I think they’ve accomplished that and beyond, and I could not be more of a fan. *Note of interest, this album is the first to feature ex-The Smiths guitarist Johnny Mar. (!!!)
Check out the killer vox from lead singer Ryan Jarman on the previous single below:

Yeasayer’s forthcoming release Odd Blood has been getting a lot of anticipatory hype, and well I guess I’m jumping on that bandwagon. Slated for a February 8th worldwide release on Secretly Canadian Records (awesome name, I know), it has, not surprisingly, already leaked. Happy hunting? Anyways, the song “Love Me Girl” is my favourite so far. Sandwiched right in the middle of the album, it is a quality track that provides a kind of disco-rich, synth-filled, piano-rambling sound that is overall fairly sexy… I suppose the come-hither lyrics which repeatedly coax, “Stay up and play with me, stay up and play with me…” don’t hurt that account. Way to go Brooklyn, once again…

Totally unapologetic, awesome, 50s style garage rock. Yeah!

Song title of the year. Period.

How fantastic was it to see The Prodigy back from the dead this year? This smash track got its fair share of remixes, but Drum & Bass king Sub Focus absolutely slays the competition when he warps it into something definitely worth banging your head to… just don’t get too close to those speakers, kids.
